Common Question #1: Is it worth the money to buy my child a graphing calculator?
My answer: I think it would be very wise to spend the money now to buy your child a nice TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator. They cost around $100 but go on sale at the start of school each year. Not only will we be using these calculators almost every day in class, your child will find it very helpful on homework assignments as well. We do have a class set of these calculators, but they tend to run of our batteries or get broken very often. If you are able to buy your child one of these calculators now, he/she will use it all throughout high school and college. In fact, I got my graphing calculator when I was in 8th grade and it is the same one I still use in class today!
